Happy Wednesday! Getting through the work week to Friday is a pretty universal cause for celebration (although those of us in the wedding industry know that often the weekend is when the REAL work happens!), but this week I’m feeling especially eager. On Friday, I am SUPER excited to reconnect with two of my closest friends from my pre-wedding coordination days working on Capitol Hill. Just like in the wedding industry, in Congress close friendships make all the difference. While we’ve been separated by distance and COVID restrictions over the past couple of years, I know that being back together will be just like old times (minus the frantic text messages about when the next round of votes is being called ;)). In the meantime, I really enjoyed seeing these pictures from Paula and Austin’s engagement shoot at the Library of Congress, just across the street from my old stomping grounds!
As the sun rose over Washington, DC, the grand architectural façade of the Library of Congress a romantic backdrop for Paula and Austin’s engagement session. The couple’s chic, sophisticated streetwear accentuated the timelessness of the city’s buildings. Wrapped in each other’s arms in the early autumn morning air, Paula and Austin looked more than ready for their upcoming winter wedding and their future together.
Paula and Austin met during the pandemic. Paula was living in Virginia Beach at the time, and Austin decided to spend the quarantine visiting his parents, who lived there as well. They connected on Hinge, and after the first FaceTime, they were hooked! Austin returned to his home in Northern Virginia, and Paula accepted a job offer there. They’ve been together since.
Nine months into their relationship, Austin had ACL surgery, and Paula looked after him throughout his recovery. Once he had recovered, Austin told Paula that he wanted to take her on a special trip to thank her for taking care of him after his surgery. They traveled to Miami on their one-year anniversary, and when they arrived, Austin had their driver drop them off at the oceanfront. As they walked, Austin told Paula that his knee was hurting. When they stopped, he got down on one knee and proposed!
