Wedding Inspiration: Blue Ridge Mountain View Styled Shoot

Oooof! We made it to the end of the year. And while I know many people are thankful to turn a new leaf, and are optimistic about 2021, I am trying to remember that the pandemic is still raging on, and it will still take some time for us to turn a corner. I’m trying to spend some time reflecting on all the silver linings from this year – we, our families, and our friends have our health, Justin got so much extra time with Charlie since he was working from home, and it made my heart burst to see them together, and we started some new holiday traditions that we’ll carry on in the future. We will continue to learn and grow, and raise an anti-racist child, support small businesses, and continue to enjoy the slower pace and days spent at home. While things won’t change at the drop of a ball, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I hope you do too.

To close out the year, we’re bringing you one more styled shoot. You may recognize this venue from last week’s styled shoot. I love how the vibe of the venue shifts just by changing the florals and decor. It shows just how versatile a space can be once you put your own touches on it!

We had one month, and not much of a budget, to pull together this styled shoot. We knew we wanted it to be boho chic, with warm golden and amber tones. A few days out, the weather forecast showed 100% chance of rain. We had six vendors lined up to join us, all of whom had committed to be part of making our vision. We went back and forth, wondering if we should change the date, concerned about the weather, and instead, we collectively decided to cross fingers and go ahead with it.

We showed up with coffee and snacks to share on a crisp Sunday morning at The Oak Barn at Loyalty, a glamorous barn overlooking the mountains. Vendors started to arrive shortly after us, and it was becoming real.

Elizabeth and Nic, our newlywed models, first met in the break room at work, right by the coffee pot. It wasn’t until a while after that, when they traveled for work together and really started becoming friends. After some time, they realized there was potential for more than just friendship. They were in love, and couldn’t deny it. They started a courtship in October of 2019. Nic knew they were meant to be married, so he didn’t waste any time in beginning the search for a ring. He proposed in January of 2020, in the Rose Garden of the White House. They spent the first part of 2020 planning their wedding — a wedding that, despite a pandemic, riots, forest fires, and more, took place in October.
