As December comes careening to an end, and the year of 2020 with it, I feel a sense of renewed hope and clearer perspectives. So many things I was taking for granted at this time a year ago, and so many things that caused me stress, seem so frivolous with the year we just had. While things are still very much awful with regards to COVID, and the lack of being with my family and dear friends, I have learned A LOT this year and am trying my hardest to focus so much more on the things I do have.

I have the most loving and caring family, the most supportive partner, incredible friends, awesome coworkers, a job that I actually like (for maybe the first time ever in my adult life!), and two absolutely amazing kids. We have our health, and food, and were able to donate to MANY amazing charities this year. We donated food, sleeping bags, toiletries, money, and more. And while there is PLENTY I look forward to leaving in 2020, this refreshed sense of giving, of sharing in joy with others, of helping, and spreading joy, of finding the awesome in going nowhere and spending more time at home with my family, are all things I hope to keep with me in 2021.

Happy holidays to all those that are celebrating something this time of year, and a very happy new year to ALL of you. I am hopeful, clear minded, and so very thankful.

For our “Timeless Christmas” styled shoot, design inspiration came from the charm and timelessness of Cattleya Chapel, paired with an overwhelming appreciation of a classic Christmas season.

The color palette was chosen to represent a classic Christmas feel, with bright and muted reds, maroons, deep emerald greens, and cozy grey. The natural elements of the venue’s outdoor offerings paired well with the pinecones and cedar of the traditional Christmas season, and created the perfect complement to our hand designed garland. By combining the texture of the outdoor elements of the venue with soft velvets and bright Christmas reds, we were able to truly turn the space into a Christmas wonderland.

Our goal was to create a full design concept that was both traditional and current, highlighting the Christmas season by taking our photos back to the past. We wanted the animals to create a nativity like feel, while the hot cocoa bar and festive menu reminds us of being home for the holidays. The mobile bar helped quench our thirst with their delicious Christmas themed beverages, including a twist on the classic Old Fashioned, not to mention providing the perfect little space to take some ridiculously snuggly pictures.

This shoot was definitely one for the bucket list! We love any reason to celebrate, but especially something as special as Christmas. We love a cozy Christmas and this shoot truly captures the warmth and spirit of the holidays.
