Helllllo Romance! Today’s intimate, secret garden wedding is giving me ALL the micro-wedding vibes. That location, those rooftop pictures, THOSE CHAIRS, encapsulated by an adorable couple shot perfectly by Shelly Pate. Happy middle of the week all!
From the photographer: Getting to know Brian and Liz, we knew every part of their wedding would be chosen with care to reflect their love and their fun and goofy personalities. The two live in the District, and wanted their wedding to celebrate the city they fell in love in. They made sure that everyone at their wedding had a unique role bestowed upon them because of how important they are to them as a couple.
It only made sense that the wedding was in a place that they love: DC. They recently bought a home together, and they love the vibrancy and history in the District.
They chose the getting ready spot with care because they wanted a comfortable, chic place to get ready and to do their first look. The Line Hotel in Adams Morgan was the perfect spot! Liz had all her bridesmaids in white, which was breathtaking for the morning summer wedding.
The first look was at the rooftop of the hotel, with killer views of the city. It started overcast, but that gave a really lovely and muted look to their photos. Then the crazy DC weather turned, and the day ended up sunny, so best of both worlds for their photos. Never let the weather get you down for your wedding!
The ceremony spot was a stunning, hidden gem of a venue in Dupont Circle, Iron Gate Restaurant. Think magical secret garden under a lush and green canopy of ivy. Just spectacular!
Liz broke traditions and walked herself down the aisle. Their friend, Anthony, did an amazing job officiating their ceremony; he’s witnessed their entire journey from friends to dating to marriage. It was important to Brian and Liz that the person who signed their marriage license knew and loved them.
Two words: Brunch Wedding. Everybody loves them! The guests mingled, ate and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings on the central patio and another brick patio on the side of the building which gave the event an open, expansive feel in the intimate space.
