I can’t believe I’m now the mom of a 1-yr old! It feels like we just brought him home from the hospital a couple weeks ago. He made Justin & I proud as he dove into his cake, at one point, not only laying on it, but also licking the frosting off his highchair. We commemorated the day with some family pictures beforehand, and then logged onto Zoom so our family could celebrate with us, and watch him dig into his cake. While it wasn’t the 1st birthday party I had in mind months ago, it was great to see our families, especially those that wouldn’t have celebrated with us in person.

After cleaning up all the cake and frosting, Justin & I celebrated with cake from Buttercream Bakeshop and a beer from one of our favorite Belgian breweries, Cantillon, that was bottled just a few days before our son was born.

There’s so much to love about today’s wedding, from the tropical mural at the venue, to the simple green & white color palette, and the bride’s outfit change into a jumpsuit!

Living and working in DC, Kim and Brian chose to get married in Baltimore to embrace a laid-back and fun cocktail party atmosphere. Habitat Seya‘s modern industrial vibe, with white brick walls and a mural full of greenery, formed the perfect backdrop for portraits before their intimate ceremony.

Seeing each other for the first time in Patterson Park, the fall colored leaves complimented Kim’s lace gown, while allowing her bouquet of greenery and anemones to pop. As if those elements weren’t enough of a gorgeous and unique look, Kim and Brian changed outfits before being introduced into their reception; Brian wore a slim-fit blue paisley suit jacket and Kim chose a chic one-shoulder white jumpsuit.

They chose to keep things minimal with no bridal party and instead focus on involving their close family during important moments throughout the day; Kim’s brother held their grandmother’s bracelet while she got ready and shared a reading during the ceremony, Kim shared a sweet first look moment with her dad, and Brian’s sister gave a touching and memorable speech that brought tears to everyone’s eyes!

Blue Pit BBQ catered dinner with cocktail height tables rather than formal assigned seating for everyone, to encourage mingling, dancing and as much fun as possible. Foregoing any special dances (you read that right: no first dance or parent dances), they instead chose to have 6 different groups of friends and family give speeches touching on every part of their lives!

Baked + Wired cupcakes (the bride’s favorite brought up from DC!) were their only dessert and the life-sized cutout of Pitbull set things in motion on the dance floor as District Remix kept the dance floor packed all night.

Kim and Brian’s wedding is a shining example of how you can have a one of a kind celebration. There is no one way to tie the knot and incorporating fresh traditions makes events like these feel special, unique and of course hopelessly cool!
