We had a nice weekend. I feel like for the first time in forever (yes, that was a Frozen reference … save me), we got a decent amount done! Andy & I enjoyed a much overdue date night on Friday, we got in some workouts, some outdoor play time with the kiddos, we caught up on life budgeting & travel planning, and I got my new long run clocked – 8 miles! Woot. Proud, but now my legs are dead. Oh, and we watched Frozen at least 3 times.
Trying to keep this productive streak into the week, with getting back on top of blogging, my inbox, and my extremely long & growing CapRo To-Do List. But first, some love.
How they met:
While we would never admit to “love at first sight”, it was pretty clear very early on that we would end up together. We were both getting our Master’s degrees at Georgetown University and met the second week of classes at our program’s annual bonding weekend. It worked. We bonded. Kelly came back from the weekend giddy about Jimmy, but was worried that she could not date him because he was her tutor and TA for two classes (and would be grading her papers!). However, they both decided not to let that get in the way and only two days later, after both attending a lecture on governance and failed states, Jimmy asked Kelly if she wanted to join him in the library to study. She jumped on the opportunity, even though she had already finished her work for the night. Instead, she wasted time trying to look busy until she got up the courage to ask him to go grab a bite to eat.
We got falafel. It was magical.
The proposal:
Fast forward a couple years, and Jimmy proposed! So, how did he propose?! Well that’s a great question. After asking Kelly’s dad for permission, designing a gorgeous ring, and waiting months for it to be made, Jimmy was READY to propose. He came up with an elaborate plan to celebrate our two-year anniversary two weeks early, because he simply couldn’t wait any longer, and needed a cover up so I wouldn’t get suspicious. I fell for it. He planned the perfect day- after a morning of crepes and hot chocolate, a crossword puzzle, and brunch, we headed to the National Arboretum. When we got there, Jimmy led Kelly to the conifer section, to the sweetest little pavilion in the world. When we got there, he got on one knee… and the rest was history.
