Trying to get back to blogging this week, as I quickly learned how little time you actually have, taking care of a newborn. Somehow I forgot that you spend most of your day feeding these little buggers, and the rest of your day is spent trying to feed yourself or get just 1 of the 50 things done, that I had wanted to do. It doesn’t help either, that so far, Conrad really only wants to be held/sleep on me – like I’m actually blogging/typing this entire post with just my right hand, because he’s sleeping on my left shoulder.
So yeah, all these things I had planned to do will just have to wait, and unfortunately, that means more regular blogging too. Until then, enjoy this DC tidal basin engagement session & love story, and I’ll get back to more newborn snuggles :)
Windsor and I actually met – believe it or not – in elementary school. We didn’t really know each other at that point, but I remember his little yellow L.L. Bean backpack, cordoruoys, and turtlenecks! Although we were in grade school together, we went to different high schools and colleges. We occasionally bumped into each other at parties throughout the years, and I always thought Windsor was so funny, smart, and handsome. He asked me out on a date over Christmas break of my senior year of college. We went to see a Christmas light show at a state park– the rest is history!
Windsor had been planning for a while; he had my ring custom made and had been sneakily sizing up my fingers to make the ring fit perfectly! He decided that he would propose on our vacation on Ocracoke island, but didn’t have specific plans beyond that.
We occasionally go stargazing at home, so we decided to go out to the beach at Ocracoke late at night to look at the stars. The night was dark enough to see the phosphorescence in the sand and water, so everything – the sand, the stars, the water — was twinkling and glittering. Windsor seized the moment and popped the question. Looking back on it, I don’t think I could have conjured up a more magical proposal.
