We’re kicking off the week with a gorgeous Washington DC engagement session from the crazy talented Emily & Bobby of Emily Porter Photo. This awesome photography husband & wife duo is WV based, so I always jump at the chance to feature their stuff when they come up to DC for a shoot. They sent on over the adorable engagement of Jennifer & Jason at the National Gallery of Art and I was thrilled to get the submission. The National Gallery of Art is such a cool, funky spot in the city and it gives couples a LOT to work with in terms of colors, shapes, light, and angles. When you have a talented photographer behind the lens, coupled with an amazing DC engagement session location, you get one hell of a result.
But don’t take my word for it, I’ll let the pictures prove it too you. Happy Monday Romancers! Lock and load because we are in for a BUSY week, including a second post this afternoon for the grooms of this city – a special offer from Michael Andrews Bespoke.
Jennifer & Jason’s National Gallery of Art Engagement Session in Washington, DC
About the couple & how they met:
Jason works in government relations and Jennifer is an artist. We live in Alexandria with our 2 cats, Red and James.
We met on OK Cupid. After just two days of messages, Jason casually mentioned to Jennifer that he just happened to be going to the Corcoran Gallery of Art the next day, and Jennifer jumped at the chance to join him. (Jason wasn’t planning on going without her, he was just looking for an excuse to meet her in person). Their date to the art gallery turned into a marathon of a date including coffee, Capitol City Brewing Co., and a comedian at DC Improv. They’ve been together ever since.
i LOVE this picture. The swoosh in Jennifer’s skirt, her smile & her bouncing hair…. seriously, obsessed.
Click inside for the rest of this awesome DC engagement session at the Corcoran from Emily Porter Photo, including the awesome proposal story!
The proposal story:
Before leaving to go out to dinner at their favorite restaurant one night, Jason called Jennifer over to his couch, handed her a blue bound booklet, and asked her to “look over something he’d been working on.” Jennifer was confused, since they were already late for dinner, and thought, “Oh, yay, a report on gas turbines for me to look at with lots of charts!” (not that gas turbines exist… she’s an artist, remember?)
Jennifer opened the “report” only to discover that it was actually a story that Jason had written and illustrated all about how they met! (oh, and did we mentioned – it rhymed!!) At the end of the story, a hole had been carved out of the remaining pages of the book, and inserted was a beautiful antique ring, and Jason proposed!
Yowza! Jason executed QUITE the awesome proposal! And he sent me a sneak peak for the “story book”!! I just had to share:
Congratulations Jennifer & Jason! Thank you for sharing your DC engagement & proposal story with us! A special thanks again to Emily & Bobby of Emily Porter Photo for sharing their stunning images.

Very PRETTY work!!!
Just a quick correction –
All of the photos shown are at the National Gallery of Art. Not the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
Thanks Ann!
