We’ve been down in NC visiting my in-laws for the week, and while the weather hasn’t been ideal, its still been nice to have a change of scenery, extra sets of eyes and hands on Charlie, and to not have to cook for a week. He’s also been living his best life, running around their backyard! We head back to DC tomorrow, and then I’ll be in full birthday mode for Charlie’s 2nd birthday next week. I’m attempting to make him a cake to look like Cookie Monster’s Monster Foodie truck, so if you have any cake building tips, I’m all ears!
Have a great weekend everyone, and we’ll catch you back here on Monday!
I was visiting Mary’s Bridal Boutique in Annapolis, MD, and I found this blue rhinestone gown from the couture line hanging on one of her racks and I instantly fell in love with the idea of creating a dusty blue styled shoot. So I decided to partner up with one of my sweet planner friends, Elise, of Magnolia Events DMV, to really help me bring this vision to life.
We chose to incorporate soft peach into the centerpiece to add a pop of color, along with a hint of lavender, some greenery, and pussy willows. I really wanted blue place settings, and we were able to source gorgeous china featuring dark blues and whites. To really make our table stand out, we chose dusty blue goblets along with gold rimmed wine glasses. To complete our tablescape, we showcased brass candlesticks with dusty blue candles.
Our cake table featured a soft blue ombre, pearl, and oyster covered cake. Surrounding the cake, we placed gold votives to really bring in the romance! This shoot was truly magical, and everything that we had envisioned and more!
