We’re NYC bound for the long weekend! Think of us while we try to contain a clingy / fussy / always hungry / just wants to walk 1yo on the 3.5 hour train ride :) Today’s wedding inspiration post is SO COOL. I never got to see the infinite mirrors exhibit (sad) but this wedding styled shoot inspired by it is pretty darn awesome. A rockstar team of vendors put this one together and it def has some steal-worthy ideas if you are looking to plan something modern, fun, and different for your wedding style. Have a great long weekend Romancers!
After visiting the Kusama Infinity Mirrors exhibition with our spouses at the Hirshhorn Museum in DC, we were drawn to the mirrored rooms and the celestial spaces we experienced in them. So with that in mind, we let life imitate art.
Stepping into those mirrored rooms with the person you love feels a little like floating in space – but with your person by your side, you stay grounded. It was an incredible feeling we couldn’t get out of our heads. In most museums, you can only experience the mirror room exhibits for about 30 seconds, which is not nearly enough time! So we knew we had to create a styled shoot that encompassed the feelings of an infinite and everlasting love in the form of an anniversary dinner party. It just so happened that for this one, we wanted to be both the photographers AND the models!
We worked with a small and awesome team of creatives, brought in mirrors (and only broke one…ha!), lights, tinsel, flowers, charcuterie and chocolates, and a delicious cocktail. We (Britney and Marlayna) are two wedding photographers who also run BaM Co-Create, which focuses on promoting handcrafted items and markets – so incorporating DIY and local makers is always important to us. We DIY’d pour-painted plates, and mirror glazed a cake (after a few tries..!), plus we worked with vendors who handcraft their own beautiful work, like alcohol ink and foiled paper goods.
The entire scene is meant to give inspiration for couples planning a wedding or celebrating any milestone in their love, encouraging a celestial and romantic feel for any wedding or party from winter to summer nights.
