An intimate wedding full of jewel tones, a bride raising punk horns during the recessional, and string lights? SIGN ME UP. Oh did I mention it was shot by ONE OF OUR FAV PHOTOGS, Porter Watkins?! This real DC wedding as all the pieces of a CapRoWedding feature & we were lucky to get to share the couple’s offbeat & adorable Georgetown engagement session as well. Check out the stunning details below!
“We knew we wanted to get married in the District proper but there were so many choices and we weren’t sure what vibe we wanted, or even how many people we would be inviting. I don’t even remember how I found the Arts Club, but the second I saw the website, I knew we had to go visit. “
“We took a day off work to tour DC venues, and it was our last stop of the day. The second we saw the gorgeous courtyard and library, we knew it was the place for us. The staff were so kind to us, and we were really impressed with their in-house food and drink capabilities, flexibility on pretty much everything, and perfect blend of urban and historical setting.”
I love, love, love color, and I knew I wanted my bridesmaids in different dress colors since they’re all such different people in terms of style and what works for their hair/skin. Since we were planning a fall wedding, jewel tones struck me as the perfect combination, since I don’t really like the traditional autumnal color palettes. It took a surprisingly long time to find the right combination of those colors, but once we did it was perfect.
In terms of decor we knew we wanted to keep it relatively simple, and that books would be a big part of the theme. We spent over a year collecting books from used sales in the area, and I was able to group them into categories for each table based on our interests – horses, Japanese literature, cooking, etc. It was such a fun project, and really tied in nicely with our personalities and the venue.
