Things are insane as usual around here. Every time I tried to get back into blogging, I just couldn’t. I do miss it, but I just don’t have the time that I used to have and my inbox is overflowing with unanswered emails & non-responded to submissions (I am so sorry guys!). But that is changing (at least in the short term) with having Kara help me prep some posts so that we can at least get SOME fresh content back in your lives. I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am for her to be helping me with this!
This weekend we tried to catch up on life & enjoyed some family time. A nice break from a crazy few weeks / weekends. It feels like the calm before the storm (staring down wedding season), and my to-do list feels like it never gets smaller, but hey at least we were able to drop some fresh stock off at Shop Made in DC, get some playground time in, AND we have an AWESOME engagement session to share today. I’ve missed filling your Monday’s with a little love. Let’s get to it.
How they met:
David and Susannah first met a while ago at a few parties. But they met each other for real in 2013, when David messaged Susannah on OkCupid, and asked her out on a date. Susannah said, eh, I guess. Their first date was at American Ice Company, where they had some awkward conversation for a while, about how she grew up outside DC and he grew up outside Chicago, really boring stuff to be honest. Then they realized that they both felt very strongly that the Walking Dead comic was SO MUCH BETTER than the TV show, and how the TV writers completely messed up the female characters. They spent the rest of the evening being *that couple* at the bar, intermittently making out, and yelling loudly about the how The Walking Dead comic was SO MUCH BETTER! SO MUCH BETTER! than the TV show.
The proposal:
We did not have a super formal proposal. We’d been dating around 4 years when we started talking about moving abroad, and also about marriage. Together, we designed the ring that became both my engagement and wedding ring, from Bario Neal (they are the BEST, ethical stones and gold). After we got the ring, David carried it around in his wallet for a few weeks, and then we made it official while walking next to a river in rural Maryland. Then we moved to Germany!
