I don’t even have to tell you what a bad blogger I’ve been. You know, I know, the internet knows … EVERYONE knows. The truth is though, I am drowning a bit between the end of my weddings (last one this weekend before baby!), the day job, the side effects of my third trimester, and ALL THE LIFE THINGS. I am way more tired than I remember being at this stage in the game with my first pregnancy, and when I get home from work, the thought of booting up my laptop to blog … well it just doesn’t happen. I spend most my days in the fetal position or in a bath (really the only way I feel comfortable), and I am just counting down until July 29th at this point.
But, enough complaining – I am going to try hard to be better these next few weeks, and we’re starting off with a DC engagement session for this Monday. So chic, so stylish, and of course, full of my two favorite things: DC scenes & LOVE.
Most people don’t go on blind dates with high expectations, and neither did Emily and Joseph.
They were introduced by a mutual friend and it took almost a month of hours-long phone conversations for Emily to agree to meet the man behind the voice. They enjoyed each other’s conversation but were still apprehensive about the whole “blind date thing.” Emily and Joseph finally agreed to meet and realized the experience was greater than they had ever anticipated. Neither of them believed in love at first sight, but let’s just say that meeting each other changed their minds. They have been together since that evening 5 years ago.
Joseph asked Emily to marry him on November 19th, 2016. They went back to his apartment after helping set up for his niece’s birthday party, and Emily had no clue what was in store. Her favorite song, “Lady” by D’Angelo, started playing as soon as she walked in, and the small sitting room by the windows was the only room illuminated in the house. Joseph asked her to go have a seat and Emily noticed a photo book on the coffee table. As she flipped through the pages of photos of the two of them throughout the years, the tears welled up in her eyes. When she got to the last page, it read, “Emily, will you marry me?” She looked up and Joseph was smiling with a beautiful engagement ring ready for her finger. She said, “Yes,” and the two are getting married at the Top of the Town in Arlington, VA this year.
