The weekend was really anything but relaxing. Andy and I did get to watch Coco Friday night on the couch (I fell asleep at 9:30 LOL), and Saturday I worked a wedding after taking Evie to the park for the morning. Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day with a fabulous brunch at Sally’s Middle Name, I snuck in a Barre class, and had a #CapRoWedding consult, before my parents came into town. Phew, there was no time for blogging Sunday night, so here we are, a day late, with our weekly engagement session feature!
This engagement feature is totally made for Capitol Romance – the DC street art, the adorable & laid-back couple, and featuring my own neighborhood: Brookland! Take it away Alex & Graham!
Our meeting was pretty serendipitous, since it was completely by chance! Alex was living in Brookland at the time, just a couple blocks from Menomale, which is a small neighborhood pizza place there with absolutely incredible food. Alex walked in one rainy Friday night in January 2016 for dinner with a friend and there was a long wait for a table, so after putting their names in with the hostess, Alex ran around to the dining area and saw two stools open at the bar where they could sit while they waited, so she ran up and grabbed them…and she just happened to sit down right next to Graham! We chatted for maybe fifteen minutes or so before the hostess called Alex for her table, but as she got up to leave, Graham got up as well, pulled out his phone, and asked Alex for her number, which she very eagerly gave him. And as Graham and his friends were leaving, they happened to walk right by Alex’s table so he went ahead and asked her out right then and there for the following Monday. And the rest is history!
We have made a point of going back to Menomale for the anniversary of the day we met each year since then and we were thrilled to get to incorporate it into our engagement photos!
Graham pulled off an incredibly romantic proposal this past December while we were on vacation in Prague. After a beautiful evening and supremely fancy dinner all organized by Graham, we stopped for a photo on the Charles Bridge overlooking Prague at night. Graham got down on one knee and popped the question, to which Alex enthusiastically said YES. Alex likes to describe our engagement as the SECOND most romantic thing to ever happen to her, since the MOST romantic was the moment she happened to walk into Menomale for dinner one night and ended up meeting her future husband (even if she might not have known it at the time!).
Our wedding will be held on November 3 at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore (If you have not ever visited, we highly recommend it! SUCH a fun museum!).
