Already today it’s POURED and now the sun is out. So why NOT share an engagement feature that has snow? From the photographer: “The session itself is a little quirky-a mix of a styled session and an engagement session. Melodie and Jared have to be THE SWEETEST couple! We set the date for the session and everything seemed to be going perfectly to plan, but next thing I know, a monster winter snow storm rolled in. Despite a location change (First place was buried. Literally.) and cold temps, everyone braved the weather and the show went on.”
Happy Friday Romancers – enjoy this beautiful love story, some fun details, and have a GREAT weekend!

How they met:
Jared and I met in 8th grade at a dance and hit it off. I was going to move back to Iowa between 8th and 9th grade, so we broke up, but when I walked into the school the first day of 9th grade, we picked right back up where we left off. We fell in love really fast and a lot of people were skeptical of it all, but we knew there was something there. Now, 6 years later, we’re more in love than either of us expected and WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!! We’re both so excited for all of the upcoming firsts and adventures together.

The Proposal Story:
Jared proposed to me on my birthday (Dec. 9, 2013). He kept telling me that he felt bad I wasn’t going to be able to get anything for my birthday since we were going to be celebrating Christmas early (I was going home to Iowa to visit family). I told him it was alright, that I really didn’t need anything. He asked me if I wanted to go to dinner and I said sure! He took my to one of my favorite restaurants (Italian Touch) and was acting really weird. I asked him if he was alright and he said that he was just worn out from the snow day and playing football in the snow with the guys. He then asked me if I wanted to go to our friend Jon’s house before or after my surprise. I was confused and asked what surprise. He told me that I would see and we headed back to the school. He took me to Sarah’s Glenn which is this garden type area on our campus that had a huge tree decorated in the middle of the gazebo. He told me that he couldn’t believe “they” weren’t here to give me my surprise. I kept asking who and started to think it was my mom and best friend that were planning on flying out to help me drive back to Iowa for break. He told me to go around the tree to see if they were hiding back there and I kept saying no, but finally gave in. When I got to the other side of the tree, he was down on one knee and asked me, “Melodie, will you marry me?” Of course I started crying and said yes! He’s the love of my life and I cant wait to marry him!
Our session today was PERFECT! Every part was my favorite! Jared and I have never had “real” professional photos just the two of us, so this was exciting all in itself. One of my favorite memories though is in one of the pictures she asked Jared to whisper something sweet in my ear. He told me, “You’re so beautiful and I can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle in your wedding dress. I can’t wait to make you Mrs.Repass” The smile on my face was real, the tears in my eyes were real, the passion in the picture was real. Other than that moment, being able to try to capture our love in pictures was all amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to try to capture those moments with! And our photographer, Katie, was AMAZING as well! She knew exactly what to do when and where. It was nice being able to feel confident that our photos would be gorgeous!
Congratulations Melodie & Jared. Thanks for sharing your beautiful, snowy engagement pictures with us. A special thanks again to Katie Estes Photography & all the vendors for sharing their images and work on this shoot, with us.
