Things always get good when you get an email from a wedding event planner, telling you her wedding would be a good fit for your DC wedding blog :) Such is the case with today’s vintage glam wedding from Jen & Adam. Jen is the CEO of Elegantly Chic Events – and her wedding was just that! The colors were black and white, with a 1950s-inspired, glamour theme (a real 1952 Bentley, black & white checkered dance floor, and an amazingly custom & creative wedding ceremony). All this set against the beautiful Atrium at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Northern Virginia.

Jen explains why they chose the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens for the wedding venue:
We chose to get married at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna because that was the place of our engagement. After Adam spent countless hours searching for the perfect place to get engaged, on May 17th, 2012, he got down on one knee in the back corner of Meadowlark and proposed to Jen and they knew immediately that this was going to be the venue for the wedding.
On their wedding day styling & decor vision:
Jen has always had an obsession with Audrey Hepburn and knew she wanted their wedding to be glamorous and classic with an Audrey-like style. And black and white was a no-brainer, everything Jen does and wears is black and white!
They spent a lot of time on eBay and Etsy trying to track down the perfect hatboxes, antique telephones and cameras, baroque frames and a silver hairbrush and comb to use as décor at the reception.
On Jen’s vintage brooch bouquet:
Instead of a floral bouquet, Jen decide to have a brooch bouquet that consisted of a few antique brooches from each of our grandmothers and great grandmothers. It was awesome to have a part of them there with us on wedding day!

Family is so important to both of us. The groomsmen were the groom’s cousins, the matron of honor was the bride’s sister and the bridesmaid was the groom’s niece. And our adorable little flower girl was the bride’s niece.
And we also had tons of family photos displayed at the entrance on the reception area for everyone to see.
love these simple wedding ceremony chair decorations – black paper cones with baby’s breath & a feather for that added touch!
They relied on a ton of Etsy vendors to keep their budget in check!
Our ceremony ribbon wands, aisle cones, the brooch bouquet, our invitations, menu cards and reserved signs, our guest book, the signs we had throughout the wedding and even my jewelry were all handmade by awesome ladies that we met on Etsy.
Instead of sand pouring or candle lighting, we planted a lemon tree during the ceremony.
We also included a “Top Things I Love About You” list in our ceremony instead of the traditional vows, which included some serious but mostly funny things we love about one another.
loving that black and white checkered dance floor!!
Adam is a Duke grad so Jen wore a Duke garter and ordered a Duke basketball groom’s cake to surprise Adam and his friends.
Congratulations Jen & Adam! Thank you for sharing your beautiful, edgy 1950s Vintage Glam wedding with us! A special thanks to Michael Clark Photographers for letting us share his images of this beautiful Northern Virginia wedding!
