Today we have a short and sweet, simple rustic Virginia wedding by Meghan Hale Photography. The couple didn’t style things to the max, but that didn’t really matter to me – I was mostly taken by their love story!
Also, we could probably blame this 90+ degree, humid heat, since the minute I saw pumpkins and a fall wedding submission – I was smitten for a reason to bring my mind to cooler days.

From the photographer:
Matt and Kristen’s wedding was a long time coming. Matt and Kristen dated for 8 years prior to finally tying the knot, having dated throughout high school and college. Although the day Matt proposed to Kristen, it was a total shock to her; it was not a surprise to anyone who really knew the couple.
On their color palette and why they chose Stephenson Ridge for their venue:
Matt and Kristen chose to blend their favorite colors, blue and purple.
They chose Stephenson Ridge to host their wedding, because of its clean rustic atmosphere. Their ultimate vision for their wedding was simple, yet elegant with just a hint of rustic chic. Stephenson Ridge’s wood floors and exposed beam ceilings played the perfect host to their dream wedding.
Matt and Kristen wanted a family oriented wedding with lots of involvement from close friend to make their day the most special. Friends and family of Matt and Kristen were involved in many aspects of their wedding.

They were fortunate enough to have lots of friends that were also wedding vendors:
Their photographer, Meghan Hale, has been a close family friend of the bride for just as long as Kristen and Matt have been together. DJ Gerry Bradshaw is a longtime family friend of the groom. Their wedding cake was a gift from one of Matt’s childhood neighbors. Floral details such as the flowers on the cake, altar decorations, corsages and boutonnières were all designed by the bride’s aunt, Mindy Buford.
Ideas from Pinterest and Google images were constantly emailed to the bride’s mother and ultimately, Kristen laid the fate of their wedding in her mother’s inspired vision.
The couple’s special day was exactly what they envisioned. As the bride and groom exited the ceremony, they left to the tune of “At Last” in accordance of their eight year courtship; rather than leaving to a tradition recessional.
Congratulations Matt & Kristen! Thank you for sharing your beautiful Virginia wedding with us! A special thanks again to Meghan Hale Photography for sharing her images via Two Bright Lights.
