This little dose of astonishing beauty comes to us from Abby Grace Photography. This DC engagement session is one part love, one part fashion, and a whole lotta parts of beautiful people! I feel like Jeff & Tracy just walked out of a J.Crew magazine!
But beyond their physical beauty, their love story was another reason I was attracted to this feature – I am a SUCKER for long love stories and for Jeff & Tracy, that was the case. It took them 7 years to get engaged and another year to start the wedding planning process, but they both knew how their story would end, even if they both vowed they would never get married!
A special thanks again to Abby Grace Photography & Two Bright Lights for making this beautiful DC engagement feature possible.
Jeff & Tracy’s Stylish, Beautiful Washington DC Engagement in Georgetown
How they met:
A guy walks into a bar…little did he know he’d meet someone that had lived her whole life just 20 minutes away from him, who happened to be looking to meet someone as kind (and single) as him.
Luckily, for the girl in this story, the guy was stood up on what was supposed to be a first date with another girl. So, fate saw it fit for the two to huddle up in a corner of the bar and talk for the next few hours. He made her swoon when he gently put his hand on the small of her back as he leaned in and asked her over the noisy room, if he could call her sometime. They had their first official date about a week later on Jan. 7, 2005 and talked for several more hours late into the night, closing down two restaurants and a bar. They began a long-distance relationship while the girl attended her last semester at James Madison University and a few trips to visit each other later, they both realized their search was over.

The proposal story:
“It was the day before our 7 year anniversary and I found myself thinking…”you know…if he wants to propose, tomorrow would be a good day to do it!”
I had been wondering if he had plans to propose, as I suspected he had something up his sleeve back when we moved in to our home together a year prior. We made plans to have a thai dinner at the National Harbor and we went to a local art gallery afterward. Not long after we got there Jeff said we should head home and enjoy a bottle of wine.
Upon getting home, we exchanged anniversary cards and while reading Jeff’s card, I noticed in my periphery that he had a little blue box in front of him. I kept my eyes on those words though, as I was trying to decipher what they were saying…something about how he hoped I’d be “his love for life.”
Since we had never talked about getting married, and actually always said we probably wouldn’t get married, I was wondering if a pair of earrings or something like a…promise ring was inside that little box!
When I finished reading, he picked up the box and said many nice things to me, and all the while I was wondering what he was getting to. Then, he finished talking…and in my need for things to be spelled out clearly, I asked, “Are you proposing to me?”
“Yes,” he said. “And when and if you are ever ready, I’d be honored if you would marry me.”
I threw my hands up to cover my face as I welled up with happy tears and immediately said, “Of course I will,” and it was then that I realized that all the talk of never wanting to be married…just went away.
Then we spent the next 30 minutes cracking up as we cleaned up the entire bottle of red wine he accidentally knocked all over our cream colored carpet and walls. Perfect timing, Jeff!
Oh, and yes, he bought the ring a year prior, as I suspected. He was just waiting for the right moment!”
Congratulations Tracy & Jeff! Thank you for sharing your beautiful love story and awesome proposal story with us! A special thanks again to Abby Grace Photography for sharing her beautiful images of this DC engagement feature!
