This weather is weird as hell for January and it’s Monday. But I can’t help but be optimistic about this week. This afternoon Maggie Winters Photography & I are starting a new project we decided to call “At Your Service“. If you haven’t seen it on my Twitter or Facebook accounts, At Your Service is a day of giving back to our city and networking with other rad DC wedding vendors.
We will be spending 3 hours this evening working at a food kitchen (DC Central Kitchen) and then heading to a bar to hang out. We hope this movement spreads from DC to other towns & cities. We already have someone interested in running an Eastern PA service day and look forward to hearing from other wedding vendors that want to start one in their hometown.
In addition to this awesomeness, I am sharing my recent song obsession as today’s Wedding Music That Doesn’t Suck, modern wedding song suggestion: Imagine Dragons’ “On Top of the World”. I think I listened to this song about 1.85 trillion times over the holidays, and I haven’t really slowed down since. Check it out for yourself and I dare you not to dance instantly.
‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take it with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.
I think I want to get married again just so I can use this song in my wedding. I’d say it’d be a pretty rad processional or recessional song for an alternative wedding and at the very least should be in your cocktail hour playlist! OH I also think it would be the perfect way to end your wedding reception as well.
Thoughts? Let’s get this Monday going!
