We’re back this afternoon with a lovely little waterside engagement session in Alexandria, VA by Kelly Ewell Photography, submitted via Two Bright Lights. Vida & Chris have a beautiful love story, with the cutest proposal [and an awesome capture of Chris popping the question, in real time] down by the Capitol Building!
Vida shares some details on their engagement shoot:
 Our shoot was in Old Town, Alexandria. It’s where we first met and where we love to hang out. It will also be where we live in our first home after we’re married! Since the engagement session was in fall, we wanted to incorporate pumpkins. We love carving pumpkins and like to have a little competition every year with our jack-o-lanterns. Also, since we spend the majority of our summers watching the Nats play, we knew we had to include some curly W pride too!

How They Met:
 The first time I saw Chris was one night when we were out at a bar with a group of mutual friends. I was immediately interested but didn’t get the chance to talk to him! Luckily for me we were re-introduced at a friend’s birthday party a few weeks later. We exchanged numbers and, a few days later, we had our first date where Chris made me a delicious dinner. Best meal I’ve every had :) We were both pretty smitten after that and have been dating ever since!

The Proposal!
Our proposal story is a perfect example of just how thoughtful, sweet, and surprising Chris can be!
Chris had told me he had won tickets for an after hours tour of the Botanical Gardens (one of my favorite places) through his office for a Thursday night in June. Because we were heading out for a beach trip with some of my childhood friends the next morning, I was not too happy about this idea. I actually spent the whole week trying to talk Chris out of this “tour” because I had errands I wanted to get done before we went out of town!! Poor guy!
 Despite my (pretty constant) complaining, we headed downtown on Thursday night. While we waited for the “tour”, we sat and talked and people watched at the Capitol Reflecting Pool. Finally we stood up to head over to the Botanical Gardens. That’s when Chris stopped me and told me there was no tour.
Before I could say anything, he got down on one knee!! Chris was even so thoughtful to have asked one of our friends to photograph the proposal! Â I am so thankful Chris put so much thought into the day so we have those photos. The pictures are so special to us!
 We spent that night calling our family members and telling them the good news! I was super excited to tell two of my oldest friends the news in person at the beach the next day – their reaction was priceless! After a few days at the beach, Chris had more surprises for me. We spent a few nights at a B&B in western Virginia where we went wine tasting, berry picking, and to a drive-in movie before heading back to DC to see the Nationals play on July 4!
