We’re back this afternoon with another engagement session ~ this time from Liz Maryann Photography [submitted via Two Bright Lights].
The bride to be, Jodi, is a charming radiation therapist from Virginia Beach, and the groom to be, Rich, is a fun-loving software engineer from Washington, DC. They decided to shoot at DC’s Nationals Stadium because that is where they had their first date!

Their love story:
From Jodi’s perspective: “I would come home on the weekends from having a full-time schedule at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. I would go home to earn some cash flow by working at Harmony Dental Group and Matthew’s Hallmark inside Lynnhaven Mall. I somehow crammed working on the weekends and a semi-social life in less than 48 hours while in Virginia Beach.
After a typical crazy Saturday shift at the mall, counting down the minutes ’til you clocked out was always a habit of mine. Before clocking out that afternoon, a large rowdy group came in on a mission. Dolled up in my fancy Hallmark apron, khaki pants & white button up I noticed this really tall boy.
First thought: ”Why is this guy wearing socks with basketball slippers?” Weirdest thing to me. I asked if he and his two brothers needed any help and Rich replied, “I am not from here, we are from Maryland & kind of in a rush to get to this baptism.”
After taking the time to help them and having small chit chat, we put together that we would be attending the same baptism that evening. It turns out his cousin’s son Rachris (which in the filipino culture Rich would say “nephew”) is married to my cousin Agnes.

“With crazy, busy college lives & lack of communication we lost touch for almost 4 years. He blindly thinks to ask a friend how I am doing. She told him I was on facebook and that is where we reconnected our friendship.
A friendship that continued on with our first official date at a Washington National’s game. After realizing how much we enjoyed each other’s company, we tried to figure out a plan on how we can make a long distance relationship work.
No matter the distance, no matter the challenge, together we realized one thing: “You meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you, and then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.”
Congratulations Jodi & Rich! Thank you for sharing your beautiful Washington, DC engagement session with us! A special thanks again to Liz Maryann Photography & Two Bright Lights for making this feature possible!
