Tanekia & Derek’s Washington, DC Engagement Session

This afternoon’s Washington, DC engagement session comes to us from Snapshots by Katie [submitted via Two Bright Lights] and features the adorable Tanekia & Derek. Tanekia & Derek decided to have their engagement session in all the different parts of DC that they love ~ including where they first met, at FAA – 800 Independence Avenue.

Derek & Tanekia’s Washington, DC Engagement Session

Their love story:

This love story began at the FAA – 800 Independence Ave will forever mark the beginning of Tanekia and Derek. Tanekia is a technology consultant who often provides training on the software solutions an organization chooses to employ. So as it was or so Tanekia thought, it was just another ordinary day, prepping for a class, until she met Derek, one of the class attendees. From that moment on it was all over.

The proposal:

So during the first couple months of dating Derek came up with one of the most creative and cunning ways to steal a kiss. Derek would ask Tanekia “A penny for your thoughts a nickel for a kiss?” Then one day, Derek surprised Tanekia by putting together the most adorable tote of nickels and said “Ok, I think I have enough for lots of kisses”. ADORABLE RIGHT??!! So anyway, ever since that day it has become one of their love story staples and adds to the uniqueness of their journey!

The two decided to enjoy being engaged for a little while as they worked toward their goals of graduate degrees. During that time they enjoyed just being together without the stress of planning a wedding. They golfed, they frequented Jenny’s down on the SW Waterfront, and loved living in Chesapeake Beach! 2 years later the couple decided it was finally time to set the date and start the planning process! With Tanekia’s impeccable talent to keep everything organized and Derek’s innate ability to make anyone laugh at any time, their wedding day is sure to be nothing short of perfect.

The day ended on the water overlooking Reagan Airport with a lovely glass of champagne.
