“Bride, Natalie wanted her guests to see the wedding through a darkly romantic lens.”

My Two Bright Lights inbox has been good to me lately. Like REALLY good [thanks all you amazing submitters].

Today’s Leesburg, VA wedding feature is no exception … but I guess that is to be expected when you take DBI Events, Weddings & Events by Bliss, and a bride that is an interior designer and have them plan & design a wedding. And to top it off, every last amazing detail in this “Mystical Forrest” themed wedding was captured beautifully by Stephen Gosling Photography!

Weddings & Events by Bliss shares a BUNCH of the wedding design and inspiration details:

Natalie and Casey’s wedding was one of the most interesting and fun events we have been a part of. Natalie is an interior designer and wanted to do something fun and unique for her wedding. She wanted to create an experience for her guests but also to bring in aspects that were meaningful to her and Casey. She chose dark and mysterious colors and patterns with pops of green for visual relief. She loves Alice in Wonderland so that contributed to the mystical forest concept of the wedding.

Just wait until you see the table designs & centerpieces from the reception … just wait …

i LOVE the look on the priest’s face here!

An “all black” dressed wedding party always seems to surprise me. You’d think it would be to monotone … but, I LOVE the way it looks here:

Stephen Gosling – you outdid yourself with this next shot sir. Absolutely stunning wedding party shot.

i love Natalie’s black tulle belt on her wedding dress – and her headband. so modern.

Mini vintage bottles with “drink me” tags were used for the place cards and a cigar bar was set up outside.

Raspberry Plain provided the perfect backdrop with its antique offbeat decor, vaulted ceilings and glass atrium. Found branches and moss, antique books, brass candle sticks, and red inked seals pressed onto vintage paper were all used to create this whimsical and magical table scape.

right? right!? these centerpieces are to DIE for

We incorporated a mix of rec and round tables to create an interesting scene and good flow for conversation.

I love that they mixed up the tables for the reception – we used squares and rounds at my own reception – and it just creates a great versatility to the room. The long banquet tables and the mixed rounds works PERFECT here:

Family is important to both Natalie and Casey so creating a family photo table of weddings past was a meaningful and beautiful tribute to their parents and grandparents.

Congratulations Natalie & Casey! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mystical, forest themed wedding with us!  A special thanks to DBI Events, Weddings & Events by Bliss, and Stephen Gosling Photography for sharing these images!

  1. My niece, Natalie, made a beautiful bride. Her fairy tale wedding was enjoyed by all. It was a memorable evening for all.

  2. Natalie put a lot of thought and work into her wedding and it showed. The reception was spectacular with unique touches of whimsey. It was a magical evening that her family and friends will remember for a long time. Love you, Aunt Joyce
