This morning’s casual, beach-side wedding comes from one of my favs, Astrid Photography. I had seen her post an awesome non-matching bridesmaids picture on Facebook, and just knew the wedding from which it came, would be perfect for my blog.
So here are the love birds, Libby & Travis:
And here is some info about them from Astrid:
Libby and Travis were actually high school sweethearts! In fact, Libby, Travis, me and my husband all went to high school together (strange I know). Well, after dating in high school they went their separate ways for awhile. Libby went to College of Charleston while Travis went to VA Tech and later joined the Navy to be a fighter pilot. Throughout all this they had kept in touch and finally found their way back to each other.
Love this getting ready shot of the bridesmaids
…and meanwhile, the boys play pool … hah of course!
love the emotion here
in loooooove with Libby’s dress. am about to attempt to convince my friend to do the one shoulder thang. love.

When it came time for their wedding, they knew they wanted something fun and informal- VA Beach is where Travis is currently stationed and seemed like the perfect place for a wedding!
And fun, informal, and perfect summertime wedding is exactly what Libby & Travis got! Now go click inside and check out the rest!!
it’s first look time!
Libby’s eyes are intoxicating (sorry if I creeped you out Libby)
now onto the totally awesome, bright, modern wedding decor
They used their green theme throughout their wedding and truly pulled off a fun summertime themed wedding. From the tiki bar and rivaling VA Tech/College of Charleston cornhole game, to the sunflowers and cocktail hour by the pool- and even the amazing Jamaican band-everything was perfect!
Um this setup looks like something right from a magazine, right? i die.
annnd we all know how I feel about those non-matching bridesmaids dresses!!
Going with the informal and fun theme, instead of having traditional bridesmaids and bridesmaid dresses, she simply asked her closest girl friends to wear any dress they wanted in a solid color. I think it made for fun and colorful pictures!
hmmmm mojitos
i love the contrast with the rustic-y sunflowers against the modern limes in the rectangle glass vases
When it came time to choosing a photographer, we tried to find a way that I (her sister-in-law) could be behind the camera as well as part of the wedding party by bringing Meghan Lynn Photography to come and help out the day of the wedding. This way I got to take pictures throughout the day, yet be involved with the dancing and fun as well once the reception started- it was a great day!
Congratulations Libby & Travis ~ thank you for sharing your amazing & casual Virginia Beach wedding with us!! A special thanks to Astrid Photography & Meghan Lynn Photography as well, for sharing their amazing images!

I also live in Virginia Beach and was wondering the venue Libby and Travis held their reception. It was gorgeous!
Hi Sarah ~ I asked Astrid, and she said it was a private beach house that they rented called the Hawaiian Palace – let me know if you need more details :
